Troop 22 Newsletter: November 2025 Edition

What a month! October wrapped up with an unforgettable campout at Great Sand Dunes — towering dunes, a bit of a chill, and a ton of fun memories made by all. As the weather starts to turn and we trade sand for snow, excitement is building for one of our troop’s favorite traditions: the Turkey Roast Campout!

NOTE: Be sure to check the Troop calendar here & your email the week of each troop meeting to track any changes.

Check out the Great Sand Dunes National Park campout here.

TOP THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS MONTH:

Wed 11/5 - Troop Meeting: Citizenship in Community* + Rank Advancement for those who have completed that merit badge. Don't forget Turkey Roast sign-ups!

Tues 11/11 - Veteran's Day Ceremony, Ashley Pond: Show your support for veterans in our community - see details on troop calendar.

Wed 11/12 - Patrol Meeting: Patrols meet to ensure they are prepared for Turkey Roast + rank advancement

Fri 11/14 through Sun 11/16 - Annual Turkey Roast: It’s a great opportunity for Scouts to complete several requirements, especially around cooking, camping and advancement, as well as a chance for our scouting community to come together for our annual Turkey Roast.

It takes a village to make this happen - sign up here.

Wed 11/19 - Troop Meeting: COH planning + rank advancement; no PLC since they have already planned through the end of the year.

Wed 11/26 - No Troop meeting: Thanksgiving break - enjoy!

TBD late November or early December - Hike: Conditioning day hike - great opportunity for scouts to work on Hiking + Cooking merit badge requirements and for those wanting to build up for a longer hike.

NOTES:

  • We Need Your Support!

To keep our campouts and events running smoothly, we rely on all of our families to pitch in. When just a few carry the weight, it’s tough to keep the momentum going. Please take a moment to reach out to a troop leader so we can plan ahead and keep offering these awesome experiences for our Scouts.

  • Reminder: Always CC Another Adult in Scout Communications

As a reminder, whenever a Scout and a leader communicate via email, it is essential to always CC another registered adult or a parent/guardian. This practice is a core part of Scouting’s Youth Protection guidelines.

  • Report YPT Violations: call or text 1-844-SCOUTS1

  • BSA Medical forms are found here - youth & adult participants need forms A & B for overnights less than 72 hours + part C (signed by doctor) if more than 72 hours.
